WriteWise: A Three-Session Intensive on How to Publish Nonfiction Books That Change the World
Kickstart Your Book in Three Sessions
This workshop series is for purpose-driven nonfiction writers ready to bring their books to life. Whether you have an idea for a self-help book, a memoir, a business book, or a work of creative nonfiction, you created your book concept to make an impact. Led by the experts at Wise Ink Media, a local publisher for thought leaders and subject matter experts, participants will leave this intensive with a book outline, an understanding of the publishing industry, and a writing plan.
This course is designed for a small cohort of writers so that each participant gets guidance on their specific book concept. Each session comes with a free drink ticket from Dogwood Coffee (located next to the Coven East Lake). Space is limited, so sign up soon!
Session 1: Building an Outstanding Outline
Our opening session covers the ingredients of a successful nonfiction book outline. We’ll help you define your book’s key messages, create narrative tension, organize your ideas, and provide strategies for selecting anecdotes and creating a sustainable writing practice.
Session 2: Publishing 101
Our second session covers how the publishing industry works, including the difference between indie publishers and traditional publishers, how to get an agent, how books get into bookstores, and how authors build platforms to market their work. At the end of the session, you’ll be equipped to decide which publishing path is right for your work.
Session 3: Foundational Marketing Tactics
Authorship is public-facing, and most authors engage their audiences through multiple channels, from speaking engagements to social media. We’ll discuss which tactics build momentum, important book marketing milestones, and options for expanding and engaging your network around your book.
Location: The Coven East Lake (4009 E Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55406)
Dates: November 5th, 12th, and 19th (2025)
Time: 4-6pm
